Anyone on medicine for ocd and what is ur experience? I’m debating it
I have tried a few different ones over the years. Some work better than others and they work differently for different people but if you find the right one it can definitely be beneficial. I personally had my own negative stigma towards taking medication, thinking it was accepting that something was wrong with me. But in the end, the medication can help so it was up to me to change my perspective on it. That all to say, medication alone isn't the answer for OCD but generally speaking it can help a person be able to more easily manage their symptoms using ERP among other things
I’m on Sertraline 100mg and I honestly think it has helped so much. I still experience distressing OCD thoughts but they don’t consume every hour of my day.
Thinking about it more deeply, I still experience the same amount of thoughts as before but I find them easier to cope with and find it easier to not give into compulsions
Prozac literally saved my life it’s wild
I’m on fluvoxamine and I still struggle with ocd and bfrb but I don’t have the intrusive thoughts that I was having which is a huge plus
I’m on clomipramine and it’s been helping a ton!
125 mg of Zoloft! Big fan!
Anafranil works well for OCD
I’ve tried different meds over the years and was convinced they didn’t work or the side effects were too bad so I would quit taking them within a few months or be unwilling to increase the dose. Finally, a little over a year ago I decided to give fluoxetine a good try and managed to get up to 80 mg.I have been on this dose now for a few months and my anxiety level is manageable for the first time in years!!! The side effects sucked for the first 6 weeks and after each dose increase I found I had the same side effects from day 6-14 after the increase. Now I’ve been on a stable dose of 80mg for months and feel better then I have in 10+ years. It’s really helped me with the constant, background anxiety I always felt even after doing lots of erp.
I’m debating trying it. I have really bad confession ocd. It really takes over my mind. I only expierenced it once a year ago and gave in and now I’m fighting it and erp isn’t helping too much. I don’t wanna confess but the guilt and the anxiety is so strong with this one and i don’t wanna confess cuz I’ll lose everything I wanted for something so stupid and I haven’t ever done it since. I have been working so hard to be better and I know that’s what counts. But this urge is very strong I’ve had it for a month. It’s making me feel undeserving of my partner because of a lie I told so long ago. I wanna try meds but I’m very scared to because of the side effects and it making my ocd worse
I battled major depression, anxiety and ADHD for almost 15 years (and around the same amount of prescriptions) before I finally found one that worked. I didn't even realize I had ovd until my Dr explained it was the cause of all my other mental diagnosis. For the past 5 years I've been on 80mg latuda and 20mg trintellix. My shrink) says it's the latuda that really helped my ocd (along with my major depression) even though it's advertised as a bipolar prescription. Don't get me wrong, I still have several ocd symptoms I need to work on...like obsessively picking my skin, but I can say now that after years of complete misery, I am content with my life. I don't lie awake crying obsessing about death, suicide, or the past. I sleep like a baby. Another great med if u have trouble sleeping bc ur mind won't turn off...Trazodone 100mg. It's actually an antidepressant and the best thing is it's nonaddictive! Good luck! Let me know how it goes!
I'm trying to put together a support group on what's app...find me by bertnernie112
Anybody here on medication for their OCD? I know everyone’s experience is different, and different medications work differently for different people, but I’m just trying to get a pulse on what to expect. I’m seeing a psychiatrist soon and I’m hoping to get some meds going.
I’m contemplating on taking meds, and would like to hear some opinions/experiences with them. I’m honestly tired of being in and out of OCD land.
I’m on and off with my OCD. It feels all too real at times, and nonexistent at others. I’m heavily considering going medication as i feel it may be what I need to breakthrough this spell. What is your alls experiences with meds and what did you take? Please share all the good, bad and in-between!
