I feel like I hate minorities now

Before OCD I never felt any hatred towards gay people or bi people or anything like that, and I even recall some shows were gay relationships had really romantic moments that I could admire, but now it feels like I hate gay people like they anoy me or smth, and I don't wanna feel that way, I don't wanna feel this way, and ofc my OCD says that Im homophobic therefore I'm gay but I wasn't even homophobic to begin with I just don't know what to do right now

I relate to this so much. I am trying to differentiate between the fact that I hate feeling triggered and hating any specific group of people, which I know I do not even though my brain tells me I do. be gentle with yourself, and allow yourself to feel uncomfortable and distance yourself from anything that might trigger you

I get this too and I was just thinking about how exhausting it is to be in defense mode all the time that it feels like hate. In my case, I will,hesitantly, admit that I am against it, but that doesn't mean I hate people in that community but mix hocd, avoidance bc of it, the fear with a bit of resentment that it's becoming so mainstream we can't even escape it in children’s media and it’s a disaster. I’m going through this with one of my favorite disney franchises, Descendants. It's supposed to be a cute, safe escape but recently I found out they tried to make a lead character from the most recent movie out this year part of that community but they probably got too scared and didn't go through with it bc everything related to that was cut and the character showed no interest in anyone, but now bc of that I'm beside myself looking for spoilers to see if in the next movie they do go through with it bc I’m not ready to let go of the last piece of recent media free of that and I won't watch it if they do indeed make that character part of that community. Sometimes I realize that I do need to chill and I don't like it but I can't help it and it just makes me feel like bc I get so angry that's internalized homophobia or something

In my case I'm really not againts it, I remenber feeling fine with it people being happy, even my brother is gay, and I love the guy and he had a nice guy, they broke up but that's not the point, but I just feel this rejection that makes it feel like hate and then my brain says that that "hate" it's just prove I'm gay

@Nicolas:) I get that. It’s totally normal and happens to a lot of people with hocd. It happens to me too. I don't want to get angry, but hocd and the community's constant demands to be put everywhere it's created a little bit of resentment towards them Add hocd confusion and I can't tell anymore. I used to be ok with it or more like neutral but idk if I genuinely changed my mind or if it's the hocd that made me this way.

It’s ridiculous how much people discussing HOCD bothers me. I know it’s a form of OCD, which I understand is out of the person’s control. I know mental illness is not a choice. I have OCD, so I get it. I get invasive thoughts about being hetero, so it makes sense that it works the other way too. I know the people who have HOCD aren’t necessarily homophobic. It does kind of make me feel like my sexuality is a worst case scenario, though. I can’t help but think “people are as afraid of being like me, as I am of heart attacks”. Idk. It just almost feels like people are saying “oh no what if I’m gay” “don’t worry, you’re straight. You’re okay because you’re straight” (which I know isn’t the case). It could just be because of the lack of positivity I’ve seen surrounding the queer community lately, though. I’m not trying to call out or invalidate people with HOCD though, I know it’s something that they don’t enjoy, and it’s something they suffer with just as much as I suffer with my OCD. Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest

This thing gets weirder and weirder I swear. I literally woke up, right. And my mind immediately went “What if you don’t have OCD? You’d just be really bi” and I went along pretending that I didn’t know about OCD and I was just experiencing denial. Then I scrolled on twitter and went on my friend’s page and then my mind went “why don’t you like her? There’s nothing wrong with her. I thought you were supposed to have a crush on her” Here’s the worst part in this: I’m now convinced that HOCD is a huge lie that I made up and it’s homophobic for me to suffer from this theme of OCD and label my “attractions” to the same sex as “bouts of anxiety.” Therefore, I’m not only a bad person, but a liar.

Please someone help me. I feel like I’m in denial. I feel like I don’t have ocd. It’s too real. The intrusive thoughts aren’t as frequent, I don’t have anxiety or do compulsions. I’m not even against the thoughts anymore. I can’t explain how real it feels. It can’t be ocd and the thing is I just don’t want to like girls. That’s it. I just don’t want to. But that sounds like I’m resisting my sexuality and it feels like this too. I’m sorry to everyone on this app but I don’t think I’m like u anymore. If things like internalised homophobia and comphet didn’t exist then I’d know I was straight but they do so now I think I’m just that. I don’t want to marry a girl or have sex with one or anything. I want to be straight and just fucking live my life. I’ve never had a boyfriend and I haven’t had a crush on a boy for years even though my ‘ocd’ started in the summer. I’ve had loads of male celebrity crushes that I’ve felt like I’ve loved and I don’t understand how those could’ve been fake but they must have been. Compulsions don’t comfort me I just watch tv to distract myself and that’s it. I can’t do this shit anymore. I don’t want to like girls but I have to be either bi or lesbian. Please I just want to be straight I don’t get it.
